The label on the top stack is still work.
Docks measure work in steps, and the loser is whoever walks the pallet line twice. A parcel at the top of a stack or a carton two rows in has its label at eye height-plus — reachable, but only after a climb. The U50's extended-reach optics read those top-stack and back-row labels from where the person is, which is why it is the dock unit we recommend before the ladder does:
- Height without hardware — the extended read covers rack-height and top-stack labels, cutting the step-count per dock check in half at typical bay spacing.
- 2D still travels with the reach — the QR/DataMatrix set stays fully on board, so the same unit accepts the newer carrier labels the fleet is slowly shifting to.
- Proof at the pallet, not the paper folder — RS232 output posts the verification at capture time, giving the dock log a timestamp that survives a signature dispute.
